Athletic Equipment - Basketball Backstops

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.01 DESCRIPTION OF WORK
  1. This section includes all labor, materials, tools, equipment scaffolding and services required to finish and install all basketball backstops:
    1. Finish and install ceiling suspended, rear fold, rear brace, backstops with backboards, goals and nets.
    2. Clean up and disposal of debris as a result of this work.
  2. Work not included:
    1. All electrical power, conduit, wiring, junction boxes, key switches and plugs which shall be installed by electrical contractor.
    2. Finished coat of paint (if necessary).
1.02 SUBMITTALS
  1. Shop Drawings: Contractor shall submit to the architect complete shop drawings and as built drawings. Drawings shall show method of anchoring, support, mounting locations, etc. Templates for all embedded bolt anchorages, sleeves, etc. Six (6) copies of each drawing or diagram shall be submitted.
1.03 WARRANTY
  1. Furnish three (3) copies of a written guarantee of all labor, equipment and materials for a period of all five (5) years from the date of substantial completion of the building.
PART 2 – PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURERS
  1. Acceptable manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, with minor variations as accepted by manufacturer due to manufacturing differences, provide products by one of the following:

2.02 MATERIALS FOR MODEL NO 7000 TRAINING CAGE (BASEBALL, SOCCER, FOOTBALL)
  1. The conventional unit will be supported by die formed fittings(rated at 2000 lbs per connection). Die formed fittings are spaced at 10'-0 o.c. maximum and shall conform to building structure support members (provided by others). Each rotating mechanism is connected to the fittings with two (2) ½" all thread rods which supports the 2 3/8" o.d. drive pipe. The training cage frame shall be manufactured with 1 5/8" o.d. pipe. The unit is raised, lowered and supported by 3/16" steel aircraft cables (2000 lbs. break strength each) at 10-'0 o.c. maximum and terminated at the drive pipe for each cable. The hoist mechanism will be comprised of a 3/4 h.p. single phase electric motor, 120 vac, 60 cycle, The mechanism includes automatic thermal overload protection and instant reverse capabilities. This hoist mechanism will contain integral rotary counting limit switches to automatically stop the cage in a stored or down position. A direct connection of an electric motor to the c-faced gear reducer (60:1 ratio) eliminates the need for any pulleys and v-belts to power the drive pipe. The gear reducer shall include double output shafts and an oil level window to insure years of extended use. The change of direction shall be performed by a reversing contactor containing two (2) solinoids with equal or greater rating than the electric motor.
PART 3 – EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION
  1. Shall be completed by an installer who is experienced in installing basketball backstops.
  2. The manufacturer shall approve installer.
  3. Installation shall adhere to manufacturers printed instructions and accepted shop drawings.
